A successful 2 days of training in high-rise response best practices was held Feb. 11-12 in San Francisco, utilizing the revolutionary Massey App.
San Francisco Fire Department, Cushman and Wakefield who manages 525 Market, and veteran first responders from Massey Emergency Management all contributed to the event.
The 2-day drill scenario involved a fire on floor 26 of the 38-story building, smoke filling the floor and stairs, actors (who played roles of fire floor victims & evacuees from upper floors) and over 200 of San Francisco’s Bravest.
The Massey App was front and center, providing critical information to the Command Post in the street, with fire officers there leading the exercise. Critical floor plan and riser diagram schematics assisted the Incident Commanders in gathering detailed information required to effectively combat the rapidly evolving fire. As importantly, the App’s emergency messaging component was used to dispatch key directives to both building personnel and “occupants” as to the seriousness of the fire, what stairwell to avoid for evacuation, fire knocked down and “all clear/return to the building” notifications. On some fires/emergencies, the command post can be blocks away, so having this important communication link to the building is vital. Every fire chief command vehicle in the city possesses the Massey App, the most advanced emergency resource tool in existence for handling events in complex occupancies.
