An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That is why we are pleased to announce that Massey Disaster Planning and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) are teaming up this weekend on June 28th at 1PM at the Aon Center in downtown LA. Why? To execute a large-scale disaster exercise, to assess and hone individual and group response abilities.
In order to truly test the strength and flexibility of the multiple LA Fire Departments involved, the stakes will be high. The 62-story Aon Center, LA’s 2nd tallest building and a key asset of the Shorenstein Realty Services, L.P., will be the site of this high-pressure skills test. Firefighters will ascend from below to attack the raging mock fire. From above, air support will perform rooftop rescue team insertions.
The drill will also unveil a new player on the emergency response scene: the new Massey FD AppTM. Working as a building guide and helpmate, the Massey FD AppTM will provide critical information, scene tracking capabilities, and expert tips supporting command officers in this rapid decision-making environment. Even if the events of the scene include mock power loss, the Massey FD AppTM will continue to serve.
Meanwhile, the building staff anywhere in the building will be able to utilize the Massey AppTM. They will access critical building information, communicate with staff using emergency messaging, and augment the efforts of the fire department to save lives and property. Between the Massey FD AppTM and the Massey AppTM, minutes will be saved when seconds matter, with groundbreaking crisis management tools.
Two days after this major drill, June 30th at 9:30AM at the Los Angeles Conference Center, Curtis Massey, founder of Massey Disaster Planning, will speak on “Next Generation Life Safety Technology and Its Impacts on Property Management.” His speech will a part of the 2015 Every Building Conference & Expo put on by the Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA).
